kade . six months

It’s funny how life can come full circle.
A few months ago I was contacted by Alli’s sister. She found my blog and when she saw my picture she remembered me babysitting her, her sister and brother many years ago. Once she told me that, memories started coming back. I remember sitting in their living room watching tv. Running up the stairs, chasing the kids while they got ready for bed. Feeling horrible when brother broke his arm on my watch. Thinking was a wonderful home they had – perfect for raising kids.
Now, several years later (maybe 19 yrs) I was able to document the next generation in this family. Happiness filled me during this session. I never thought photography would connect me to people in my past.

summertime fun…
Posted on July 27, 2009
This afternoon we headed down to the beach for a quick shoot. I wanted to get a few with me and my boys but they had other ideas. We went with some friends and I was able to get the kids to sit long enough to snap a few.
I am hoping to get back before the summer is gone. The view’s are amazing and it’s fun to drive an old car out.

the wedding . ceremony…
Posted on July 24, 2009
It doesn’t take much for me to cry. A long distance phone commercial. The final episode of any show. A sappy song. I pretty much can cry at the drop of a hat.
While I will photographing the wedding ceremony, I really was not paying attention to what was going on. I was in the moment looking at different angles, trying to capture “the” shot. But once the bride and groom were announced as “mr and mrs.” and they kissed, my eyes became misty. Lame, but I love a good love story. I love to see people happy. I love to cry at weddings. And I guess if I am attending one or working one my emotions do not know the difference.
So if you hire me and I start to cry, just remember I can’t help it.

To me, life is more than just people. A memory is more than just a photo of a person smiling. To capture the true “feel” of a moment you have to document the small things people may over look.
Here are a few of those things from the Fry/Paterson wedding.

the wedding – getting ready…
Posted on July 22, 2009
I shot my first wedding a few weekends ago. I never wanted to do a wedding – to much pressure. But I got a great e-mail from Leslie and I could not pass this one up.
I have known Leslie and her family for almost 20 years (ouch); very comfortable situation. It was also going to be a very, very small wedding (27 people including bride and groom). Bonus points for that one. And she only wanted candid pictures!!!! Sign me up.
So happy I ventured out of my comfort zone and attempted this one. I learned so much from this experience and I am open to do more weddings.
Thanks so Leslie and Brian for being a beautiful couple and to her family and friends for letting me capture the feeling of the day.
I will have to post this wedding is parts – here are the “getting ready” images.

I love summer. The fresh fruit, long nights, warm days. Blueberries are the highlight of the season. I love them in lemon yogurt – it’s addicting (thanks Micah).

These are some of the same images that I posted on my old blog, just trying to get a feel out for this new site. Takes me a while to learn something new. Give me time and I will have this down!
