the post with no name
Posted on March 11, 2010
I could not think of a name for this post. My creative juice’s have decided to run and hide.
This family is comfort. This family is fun.
Each time I have a session with them I feel at home; as comfortable as your favorite pair of jeans. One of the amazing perks with what I do is I get to bond with people. Each family is different but I always walk away feeling a bit more connected with each client. This family was one of my first clients, so I hold a special place for them in my heart.
Karen is the type of girl I can sit down on the couch with, chat about anything and have fun; plus we have the same tastes in books ~ love chating about the stories and what parts we loved in the book. Joe is one of the funniest people I have ever been around. I love his sense of humor and his timing on deliver is perfection. Karen’s dad joined up for this session and he is as much fun as she is. You can see how much love he has for Ms. Sydney by looking at the way he looks at that little girl.

A purple hat and amazing curls
Posted on March 4, 2010
Little kids are the best to photograph in my eyes. They may not always do what you ask them but you can see their true self in each frame. Part of having pictures taken when your kids are small is to document who they are. They will not sit still, may not smile and more than likely will try to run off before I am done. But that is life and those little things make the pictures that much better.
Baby Izzie had this amazing purple hat on for our photo shoot. Purple is my favorite color so I was so excited to see her and her sister, Rian, in this color. Izzie was pretty much bald under the hat (another one of my favorites, bald babies) but sister Rian has the most delicious curls you have ever seen. Just picture her running and all those curls bouncing up and down; so sweet.
Kim and Bo, you have one beautiful family; thank you for letting me spend the morning with you and your girls.

kids may be small

But they leave a huge impact on you.
I love finding little things of my boys around the house. I saw these by the front door today and I had to take a picture of them. I take pictures of random objects all the time; you should see my pile!
The boots may be small but the person who wears them has impacted me in an indescribable way.

he’s one

Kameron just turned one!
He is one happy, happy little boy. I fell in love with his big eyes and bright smile. At the end of our session we found a fountain of water to play in; despite the cold day and freezing water; this little boy was in heaven. I think he could have played in the water for the rest of the day.

a tutu and polka dotted rain boots

With a combination like this how could the pictures not turn out adorable?
Ms. Ameila just turned three and I was lucky enough to be asked to capture her cuteness and energy. It may have been raining but that did not stop her. She has a quality about her that makes you feel the zest she had for life. Her ring, the boots, the pink tutu and that amazing smile, watch out world, this little girl will conquer it some day.
Happy Birthday Amelia, thanks for dancing for me in the rain.

a year has passed
Posted on February 14, 2010
A few weeks ago I attended a baby group party. They were celbrating their babies 1st year. Most of the families are clients of mine so I felt right at home and the kids were used to me shoving a camera in their faces.
I had a blast trying to follow all 8 kids around that day, here are some of my favorite images from the party.

what a free session
Posted on February 13, 2010
I just purchased a new backdrop to use with newborns/babies and I can’t wait to use it. I am looking for someone who has a child 6 months or younger who would like to be my guinea pig. I am offering a session and cd with the edited images for free. The pictures will only be ones that I have taken on the backdrop. I can come to your home or you are welcome to come to mine.
If this sounds like something you are interested in doing in March, please send me an e-mail; it will be first come, first serve.
And no post is complete without a picture. I took this little guys picture last summer (please note: this is NOT the backdrop you will have in your photos).

ms. olivia turns one
Posted on February 2, 2010
I get to share in some of life’s most wonderful moments. My clients entrust me to document occasions that memories grow from.
I love this type of session for many reasons. One is that it is so different from a regular session; change is good at times. Another reason is that I get to blend in, I don’t have to ask anyone to do anything and I don’t have to have a camera pointed at your face (I do love these things though). I get to stand back and witness what is going one. I use my camera to tell the story of the day. I capture the excitement, pleasure and sometimes pain in the faces of those that are at the gathering.
A few weeks ago I photographed Ms. Olivia’s 1st birthday. This little girl was surrounded by love. You could feel it radiating off each and every person at the party. When you are the mother and putting a party on, it’s hard to really sit back and feel the energy in the room. As a by stander, it’s easy to see. As the family looks over the pictures and remembers this special day; my hope is that they can feel what I felt. Happy Birthday Olivia!!!

i love food

I love food.
I love to eat.
And I love these things, yummy!

a picture from my life
Posted on January 28, 2010
Last weekend my family and I headed out for breakfast. I LOVE eating breakfast out. No dishes to do. No standing in the kitchen wondering what to make. Everyone gets to eat yummy food and no one has to clean up.
Randy (my hubby) ordered a coffee drink. I think I am one of the few that do not drink coffee in this town. But looking at this wonderful creation that was set before us I may just change my mind. This cup was HUGE, this picture does not show it’s large size. You should have seen Randy roll his eyes when I brought my camera out and told him “don’t touch it till I take a picture”.
Just thought I would share a little with you.

my first session in the rain
Posted on January 26, 2010
Yep, I did this session in the rain. It started raining about 5 mins before the session started. There was no way I could call my client so I meet them and we decided to give it a shot. Not sure if Luke was very happy with it (sorry!!)
What saved us were the trees. We all got a bit wet but my camera stayed dry (thank goodness). It was also foggy but that gave some of the pictures a cool feeling. I would love to shot in the fog again. Cathy, thanks for letting me have shelter under your umbrella! And Luke, sorry about the rain, if I could have turned it off I would have.
